Sam Ihm doing well after surgery

DeKALB - Ten-year-old Sam Ihm is recovering and doing well after a Tuesday morning surgery to remove a brain tumor. "He's doing remarkable. He's talking and joking and he sat up in a chair," his grandmother, Mary Overbey, said Wednesday night. "It's from all of the prayers." Ihm, a fourth-grade student at St. Mary School in DeKalb, and his family are selling ski caps to help raise funds for brain tumor research and treatment at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Ihm is being treated at the hospital. Overbey said the Caps 4 Sam program has been so popular that the first 200 hats were sold out and area stores selling them keep on being bombarded with requests for more hats. She said more of the $10 hats with the Caps 4 Sam logo have been delivered and are available at several area retailers, including C.A.R. Hospital, 303 N. Seventh St., and Record Revolution, 817 W. Lincoln Highway. They also are available at the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, 164 E. Lincoln Highway. More information about the project and additional store listings are available at Caps4Sam.com.
