SYCAMORE – The Sycamore Community Unit School District 427 will meet Tuesday with one of the goals to discuss revising a school policy.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at West Elementary School, 240 S. Fair St., Sycamore.
Up for discussion is the school district policy for administering medications to students.
The current policy, as presented on the school district's website, deals with what needs to happen for students to take medication during school hours or school-related activities. One of the sticking points to it is the parent or guardian must request the school dispense the medication to the child.
In order for a school district employee to administer to any student or supervise a student who takes their own medication, the parent or guardian must sign a School Medication Authorization Form, according to the policy.
The agenda shows no indication as to what part of the policy would be reviewed, but the plan as of Monday afternoon for Tuesday night's meeting is to review a revision to the policy, according to the district's website.
During the meeting, the plan is for the school board to discuss Sycamore High School's Music Department 2020 field trip.
The agenda also highlights an addendum to the SRO Intergovernmental agreement.
In April, Sycamore School District 427 partnered with Sycamore Public Library to ensure all children in Sycamore public schools get a library card.
Before the meeting ends, there's an executive session scheduled too.
