The Sycamore girls bowling team earned a hard fight invite win, led by Megan Kolberg as the Spartans defended their Plainfield Central Wildcat Invitational title with 5,755 pins Saturday.
Kolberg was individual champion for the second straight year, this time with a pin total of 1,385. She posted games of 257 and 247.
"We have a freshman right in the middle of the lineup." said coach Andy Hampton. "We also have two other girls who are nursing some injuries ... It's the first tournament, so I wasn't really sure how we'd look. Apparently the answer was 'ready.'
Alexis Munch and Maddie Lathrop finished ninth and 15th respectively.
Kaneland wins in OT: The Knights defeated Auroa Central Catholic 57-52 in overtime.
The Knights now own a record of 3-1.
Cogs take down Somonauk: Genoa-Kingston slowed down Somonoauk in a 45-38.
Lily McPherson's 16 points were tops for the Cogs. Bridget Babb scored 12 and Sam Winker added nine points. G-K is now 4-3.
Two in double figures as Royals lose: Hinckley-Big Rock sustained a 68-46 loss to Elgin.
Carson Pickert scored 14 points and Noah Badal added 12. The Royals are now 1-3.
Knights notch first win: Kaneland defeated Elk Grove 45-36 as Grant Baldridge (152), Jack Yore (160), and Miles Ripper (285) each secured pins in the win.
Jacob Gossett (120) and Ripper earned pins as the Knights fell 56-24 to Highland Park.
