DeKALB – Redshirt junior running back Tre Harbison has entered the transfer portal and will depart the Northern Illinois football team, the school confirmed Tuesday.

Harbison could not be reached for comment, but an NIU spokesperson confirmed that Harbison shared his intent to enter the transfer portal earlier this week.

Harbison elected not to play in Tuesday’s game against Western Michigan.

As a graduate transfer, Harbison will have immediate eligibility.

Harbison finished with consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons, the first player since Jordan Lynch to accomplish that feat for the Huskies. He also had 16 career rushing touchdowns, and his 2,345 rushing yards leave him 14th in Huskies history.

Pete Thamel of Yahoo first reported the news.
