“The eye is always caught by light, but shadows have more to say.”
This quote, by author Gregory Maquire, captures the theme of the Kishwaukee Valley Art League’s next Create With KVAL challenge: “Light and Shadows.”
Works of art by league members based on this theme will be presented and discussed at the league’s monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Hy-Vee club room, 2700 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore.
The relationship of light and shadow will be expressed in various genres of art, including painting, sketching, photography, woodwork and three-dimensional media, as members present their works.
The public is welcome to attend the meeting and learn how artists are inspired by light and shadow and see the results of that inspiration.
KVAL’s annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Market is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 16 at the old train depot in Sycamore. Shoppers can buy holiday gifts, as well as meet and chat with a number of local artists.
KVAL is committed to promoting local artists and dedicated to the development of upcoming artists in the Kishwaukee Valley area.
