DeKALB – A $100,000 grant from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation is going to allow The Friends of DeKalb County Regional Office of Education to move forward with a Basics DeKalb County program. The grant provides funding for a program coordinator, a website and marketing materials, collaboration with community partners and a visible presence at community events.

The goal of Basics DeKalb County is to better prepare children for kindergarten through the use of five powerful evidence-based brain development tools.

“The DeKalb ROE is pleased and proud to receive funding from the McCormick Foundation for such important work in DeKalb County,” said Amanda Christensen, Regional Superintendent of the DeKalb ROE in a news release. “Our commitment to children and early learning is demonstrated by the continued collaboration with community partners and potential community funders.”

Basics DeKalb County is housed at and coordinated by the DeKalb ROE. It is a community-based and county-wide program that relies on the support of charitable donations, agency and business partners, and family engagement.
