MALTA – Kishwaukee College remains an accredited institution after a recent review by the Higher Learning Commission.

The decision follows a visit and comprehensive evaluation to the Kishwaukee campus by a commission of peer reviewers in April, according to a news release from the college.

The accreditation is valid until the next review cycle, in 2028.

The accreditation process is designed to help colleges and universities critically evaluate their curriculum, instruction and support services, according to the release. The process ensures universities meet various standards and are continually improving.

The commission is one of six accreditation agencies in the U.S. that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis, the release states. The commission requires institutions to undergo a comprehensive evaluation every 10 years.

Kishwaukee College has earned accreditation by the agency in 1974.

Kishwaukee’s new mission, that the college “improves lives through quality, affordable education,” was highlighted several times in the accreditation report, according to the release, and reviewers remarked how well-prepared the college was for the visit.
