DeKalb's new boys soccer coach steps away from girls position
DEKALB – Being committed to his players and his family was the primary motivation in PJ Hamilton resigning his job as the DeKalb High School varsity girls’ soccer coach.
Hamilton is the newly appointed boys soccer coach for the Barbs, replacing Brent McIntosh, the leader of the boys program in that capacity for the past 18 seasons. Hamilton has served as the boys junior varsity coach for about a decade and looks to refocus in the boys head job.
“It came down to wanting to be an active father in my daughter’s life, and this was a way of doing it,” Hamilton said. “I love to coach soccer, but I want to be there for my family, and that’s what it finally came down to.”
