DeKALB – City police are investigating a stabbing that occurred about 6 p.m. Wednesday in Hopkins Park that interim DeKalb Police Chief John Petragallo said wounded three teenagers and sent two to the hospital.
Petragallo said police still were on the scene and investigating later Wednesday, but he has no reason to believe there is any danger to the public.
DeKalb police Cmdr Bob Redel said Wednesday there was a person of interest at the police station.
“He is the person that held the knife,” Redel said. “We’re still trying to figure out what happened.”
Petragallo said witnesses reported seeing a disagreement between two groups, which led to a fight breaking out.
“There were injuries two or three different people, and at least two went to the hospital,” Petragallo said.
Redel said the wounds were superficial.
“There’s a lot of people involved,” Redel said. “But the good thing is nobody was seriously injured.”
