Hampshire man seriously injured, receives DUI citation after Sunday crash

SYCAMORE –A Hampshire man was hospitalized with serious injuries early Sunday after police said he crashed his pickup truck into a tree while driving under the influence.

According to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Wesley W. Floyd, 22, of the 44w100 block of Plank Road in rural Hampshire, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital with serious injuries after the crash.

Police said Floyd was driving on Buzzell Road northeast of Sycamore when his red Ford Ranger pickup left the road and hit a tree at high speed shortly after midnight. The truck came to rest in the middle of the road, and sustained what the release described as “total damage.”

Wesley issued a citation of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on the wrong side of the road, police said.
