Several DeKalb County libraries are getting a funding boost thanks to state grants provided by the Secretary of State and State Library Jessie White, according to a news release from the secretary's office Tuesday.

The White Awards provided a total of $15 million to 631 public libraries across the state serving nearly 12 million people, including libraries in DeKalb, Sycamore, Genoa, Cortland, Hinckley, Shabbona, and Waterman, the release shows.

The DeKalb Public Library received $55,000; the Sycamore Public Library received $21,900; Genoa Public Library District received $6,500; the Cortland Community Library received $5,300; the Hinckley Public Library District got $3,500; the Clinton Township Public Library in Waterman received $2,300; and the Flewellin Memorial Library in Shabbona was awarded $1,100.

The grant money will go to a number of personnel and material needs, the release shows, including books, newspapers, CDs and DVDs, audiobooks and eBooks, home-visit book delivery services, expanded access to online resources, adult programming, Spanish and dual language materials, and new computers.
