DeKALB – The DeKalb Public Library needs teen volunteers over the summer.
Teen volunteers clean books and edge books, help get ready for programs, pick books for displays and assist during large programs. An orientation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Teens can work in groups with their friends – this is not a silent activity, although library rules apply.
Upon request, volunteers will receive a letter for their school notifying them of service hours completed. Those who do a good job may get a letter of recommendation for a job and/or a college application.
Those interested need to fill out a volunteer application and get their parent’s permission to become a Volunteen. This program is intended for teens in grades six to 12.
