With the weather warming up and the color of green starting to reappear everywhere, we can’t help but be excited about our upcoming outdoor events! The Genoa Chamber is gearing up for its springtime activities.
Back by popular demand this year, we are excited to host the second annual Cinco de Genoa celebration May 4. Because last year’s event was such a huge success, we knew this would become an annual event. It’s a fun, free family day to celebrate and enjoy the great outdoors in Genoa.
Cinco de Genoa runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 4, with several businesses and organizations along Route 23 taking part throughout the day. The neighborhood block party-type celebration will take place in the parking lots from Tobinson’s Ace Hardware to River’s Mexican Cantina. Activities will include multiple performances by Ballet Folklórico Rayitos del Sol, pony rides, face painting, artisan booths, music, inflatables, outdoor exhibits, food and more. A piñata filled with great prizes for kids and adults will be broken every hour.
We hope to see all of you May 4 celebrating Cinco de Genoa with us!
This year, the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce will welcome back the Genoa Homegrown and Handmade Fresh Farmers Market. We work hard to make our markets a summer destination location for families with local farmers, live music, kids’ activities, tastings and more.
Whether you are looking to stock up on the season’s freshest fruits and vegetables or just want to enjoy a day outdoors in our lovely community, the farmers market is the place to be. We are thrilled to welcome back several local vendors from last year, as well as a number of new vendors from across Illinois.
With jewelers, local artisans, brewers, craftsmen, musicians and more, our markets are an outlet of creativity and expertise. The farmers market is a community hub – a place to meet up with your friends, bring your children or just get a taste of small-town life in Genoa.
The markets will be in the Genoa city parking lot, as well as on South Genoa Street in downtown, and are proudly sponsored by Alan Browne Chevy. Mark your calendars for this year’s markets: May 25, June 22, July 27, Aug. 24 and Sept. 28.
To find out about Cinco de Genoa or the monthly farmers markets, call the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce at 815-784-2212 or visit the chamber website at www.genoaareachamber.com.
I hope to see you exploring Genoa this spring. If you are looking for ideas, activities or awesome businesses, be sure to stop in the Genoa Chamber for all of your information. We would love to see you!
