DeKALB – Dog lovers looking for a low-cost way to spend some time this weekend should head to the Northern Illinois University Convocation Center.
The Kennel Club of Yorkville’s 66th annual Dog Show returns to DeKalb on Saturday and Sunday, with hundreds of dogs to be judged on their physique, agility and obedience. There are two obedience trials and two junior showmanship competitions scheduled.
Admission to the two-day show is free and open to the public, although parking is $5 for regular vehicles and $10 for RVs. There also will be vendors on hand selling a wide variety of pet-related products.
The floor level of the Convocation Center is set up for animal judging, while many pet owners set up grooming stations on the track level, and spectators can walk around the venue and view many different breeds of dogs as they’re prepped for judging.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. on both days.
