ST. CHARLES – Actor and St. Charles resident Donnie Wahlberg plans to break ground Friday on his signature Wahlburgers restaurant.
Joining him will be St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina. The restaurant will be built at the southwest corner of Route 38 and Randall Road in St. Charles near the Meijer store.
“We are so excited to bring Wahlburgers to St. Charles,” Wahlberg said in a news release. “It’s been a dream of mine to open a Wahlburgers in the community that Jenny and I have chosen to raise our family in. There is no better way to repay the people of St. Charles for welcoming us with open arms than to give back.”
Wahlburgers is a casual-dining burger restaurant and bar owned by chef Paul Wahlberg in partnership with two of his brothers, actors Donnie and Mark. Donnie Wahlberg and his wife, actress and TV/radio host Jenny McCarthy, live in St. Charles.
“We are thrilled that Wahlburgers chose to come to St. Charles,” Rogina said in the release. “We look forward to hosting their successful restaurant concept in our town.”
Donnie Wahlberg and McCarthy were married in 2014 at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles.
Wahlburgers also soon plans to open a restaurant in Chicago, its first in Illinois.
McCarthy will be launching her cocktail drink, Blondies, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 5 at Blue Goose Market, 300 S. Second St., St. Charles. The event will mark the Chicago-area launch of the drink.
