Police still looking for missing 19-year-old Genoa man

DuPage lends hand in local search with bloodhound

GENOA – The search continued Monday for a 19-year-old Genoa man whose family members said he walked off midday Friday, has not been taking his medications for mental illness and whose phone has been turned off.

Joseph A. Maynard is about 5-foot-5, 150 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.

Despite DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office deputies’ and more than 150 volunteers and fire personnel searching Sunday, he has not yet turned up, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Maynard’s brother, Tim Maynard, posted on Facebook on Saturday morning asking whether anyone had seen his brother, whom he saw leave their parents’ house in the 31000 block of Daniels Drive on foot about 11 a.m. Friday. Joseph Maynard was last seen wearing a tan Carhartt jacket and khaki pants.

The Illinois Conservation Police have assisted with the search, and in addition to DeKalb County deputies putting out a K-9 unit, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office was in the area Monday conducting another search with a bloodhound, according to the release.

Anyone with information about Joseph Maynard should call the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at 815-895-2155.
