DeKALB – Nicklaus Eberly needed a big series to lock up the final Northern Illinois Big 12 boys bowling title.
The DeKalb senior did what he’s done throughout his career.
His 1,380 took second in the tournament that day but gave him enough points to win the seasonlong title to call himself a conference champion.
He also helped the Barbs reach the sectional round of the postseason and nearly make a state tournament. After averaging a 210 for the season, Eberly was named the Daily Chronicle 2019 Boys Bowler of the Year.
“It went pretty well, better than I expected,” Eberly said of his season. “[I expected] the team was going to be a little rough because it was going to be mainly freshmen and sophomores.”
