Curran and Lopez brothers spell double-double trouble for all comers
The infusion of young, talented, lower-weight freshmen into the DeKalb wrestling lineup this season has boosted the program.
But it’s the two sets of brothers that perhaps most vividly display the characteristics that have propelled the Barbs to a regional team title, and a No. 6 team ranking in Class 3A by the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association.
Freshmen twins Danny and Tommy Curran immediately stepped into the varsity lineup and have rewarded the trust of the Barbs coaches with results. They are a combined 60-11, with Danny, (23-4) having competed in 17 fewer matches largely because of a back injury that kept him sidelined for parts of December and January.
