'80s extravaganza to benefit The Gracie Center

Dust off your hair crimper, tight roll your acid washed jeans, velcro on those shoulder pads and join The Gracie Center for a totally POPP’in benefit to be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Regale Center, 124 1/2 California St., behind MVP’s, in Sycamore.

The event will feature live music by The Party Doctors, featuring hits from the '70s through today. The evening also will include a costume contest, with prizes for those with the best '80s fashion. Food will be provided by Catering by Diann and there will be a cash bar.

The night also will include a silent auction featuring dinners at local restaurants, sports memorabilia, tickets to sporting events, theater performances, tours and museums. There also will be a four-night stay at a resort in Wisconsin and more.

The Gracie Center is a DeKalb County-based nonprofit organization that provides vocational and life-skills programming for adults with disabilities. They are best known for their seed-to-sale popcorn operation – as members of the crew plant, harvest, prepare and sell gourmet popcorn.

Tickets cost $30 in advance and $35 at the door. They are available online at www.thegraciecenter.org or at the Sycamore Tom & Jerry’s Restaurant.
