SYCAMORE – A DeKalb County judge Thursday will set conditions for the release of a DeKalb man accused of repeatedly attacking a woman.
Devon B. Kelley, 30, of the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive, has been charged most recently with domestic battery, assault, criminal damage to property and criminal damage to a residence.
Police said in court records that Kelley showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in the 1200 block of Rushmoore Drive at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday and told her drugs he’d taken weren’t what he’d hoped for.
Police said he then tore her bedroom apart, hit her with a wooden mattress support, scratched her face and chased her downstairs trying to stab her with a fork.
Kelley then left the building and the woman locked the door, the records show. He returned, however, punched through glass in the front door and grabbed a piece of it threatening to slash her throat.
Court records show Kelley had been sentenced to two years of conditional discharge for 2015 domestic battery charges involving the same woman.
On Tuesday, Chief Judge Robbin Stuckert ruled that Kelley be held without bail until he next appears in court at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
