As the season heads toward the home stretch, Braun said he’s confident he’ll qualify for state in two events, but said he was hoping one of the Barbs relays will qualify as well.
Gavin Anderson, who won the 200 free (1:49.65) and 500 free (4:50.77) Tuesday, agreed – hoping that not only he qualifies, but a pair of relays get through as well.
“I would like to get my state cut before sectionals,” Anderson said. “If I get it at sectionals, and I don’t have to taper, I’m fine with that. I’m only 2 seconds off of it in the 500 and I think 3 off of it in the 200. We’re really hoping to bring a relay with either the 200 medley or 400 free.
“Nate and I are definitely confident we’ll make it to state this year,” he said. “There’s a couple other guys that are pretty confident they have a chance at making it this year.”
Anderson has been dominant in his solo events this year, leaving Chambers optimistic late in the season.
