DeKALB – With DeKalb looking to build a two-possession lead in the final 90 seconds against Kaneland on Saturday, Bryanna Kigyos had a different idea.
Kigyos had a steal and a bucket to cut the Barbs’ lead to one, and the Knights took control for good on their next possession in a 39-38 win for Kaneland in overtime.
“It was a good play by a senior,” Kaneland coach Ernie Colombe said of Kigyos, who had a game-high 14 points and four steals and led Kaneland with six rebounds. “She had a lot of good looks tonight, and she works real hard. It would have been real easy to hang her head, but she kept working and it’s why we kept her out there. But she made a big play when we needed it.”
