Reserve guard Brett Marth led the Cogs with 20 points, including a 5-for-9 performance from long distance. Nate Nesler had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Griffin Hansen added 17 points.
Rock Falls was 10 for 11 from the field in the first eight minutes, including 3-pointers from Jalen Bickett, Dylan Leaf and Jalen Johnson, on its way to a 25-6 lead.
Cade Nailor was 5 for 5 from the field in the first quarter – a performance that was the polar opposite of the league opener last weekend against Dixon.
“It was really nice, especially coming off that drought we had in Dixon when we scored two points in the first quarter,” Nailor said of a game his team eventually won at the final buzzer. “That was a huge momentum boost. We all got our confidence back, and I think we proved it.”
