DeKALB -- The DeKalb Public Library will host Arcomusical in a free after-hours concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The ensemble will play holiday music as well as original compositions for the audience in the library’s main lobby. Holiday snacks and refreshments will be provided.
MeiaMeia (Portuguese for “half” “half” i.e. “half a dozen” of one, “half a dozen” of the other) is a 12-work chamber music cycle for an instrument called the Arcomusical, an elegant species of tunable berimbau handcrafted in the United States.
Composed between 2013 and 2015, MeiaMeia is the collaborative project of Greg Beyer and Alexis Lamb. Together they created a rich and sophisticated musical language that is like nothing ever before played on musical bows anywhere in the world.
Performed by the ensemble, Projeto Arcomusical, the music is fresh, playful, rhythmic, colorful and soulful.
The concert is free and open to all.
