DeKALB – Sutton Smith gave Toledo’s “Twin Tower” offensive tackles trouble throughout Thursday’s 38-15 victory for Northern Illinois.
Between Toledo’s 6-foot-8, 330-pound senior right tackle Brock Ruble and 6-8 junior left tackle Cameron Bell, Smith and the Huskies’ edge rushers had a tall task before them.
“I like when my tackles are taller because it gives me more leverage, and they have to bend more,” Smith said. “You just got to keep going at those guys. You just got to keep being relentless. Those guys are very big. It’s harder for them to move with a quicker guy, so I just try to keep doing what I’m doing and play relentless and hopefully try to tire them out or beat them one-on-one.”
