Downtown DeKalb intersection will close for 4 days

IDOT spells out detours for traffic on Lincoln Highway, Route 23

DeKALB – Work on railroad tracks will close the intersection of West Lincoln Highway and Fourth Street for up to four days starting Friday, according to a news release from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

IDOT announced Monday that Union Pacific Railroad needs the few days to repair the railroad crossing at the high-traffic intersection.

The intersection is a high-traffic area, and these detours will be used to accommodate truck traffic:

• Route 23 northbound traffic will go east on Fairview Drive to Peace Road, then north to Barber Greene Road, then west on Barber Greene Road back to Route 23. Route 23 southbound traffic will take the detour in reverse.

• Traffic westbound on Lincoln Highway will go south on Peace Road to Fairview Drive, west to South Fourth Street, north to Harvestore Drive, west to South First Street, north to Fairview Drive, west to Annie Glidden Road, then north back to Lincoln Highway. Eastbound traffic in Lincoln Highway will take the detour in reverse.

IDOT is urging motorists to use caution and expect delays while traveling on the detour routes. You can keep tabs on local projects on Twitter at @IDOTDistrict3, or at idot.illinois.gov.

of $3.5M in bonds, tax levy

SYCAMORE – The Sycamore School District 427 Board will take action on a couple of Chief Financial Officer report items during its meeting Tuesday night.

District 427 CFO Nicole Stuckert is scheduled to present information about a resolution to not exceed $3.5 million in general obligation limited refunding school bonds to refund some outstanding bonds of the district, according to the agenda. The preliminary tax levy for 2018 also will be presented and brought before the board for approval, the agenda said. An update on the number of children receiving free and reduced lunches by school building and updated data on annual student services will also be topics of discussion during the meeting.
