SYCAMORE – Employees from three businesses were cited for selling alcohol to minors during a compliance check Monday, according to a news release from the Sycamore Police Department.

Police say County Liquors, 625 E. State St.; HyVee Gas Station, 2720 DeKalb Ave.; and Lundeen’s Discount Liquor, 1760 DeKalb Ave., did not pass compliance checks.

Those businesses will get an ordinance citation and will have to attend a hearing where the liquor commissioner, Mayor Curt Lang, decides on action going forward for the business.

Lang has said he considers whether a business is a first-time or repeat offender. He has said the possible disciplinary actions range from a fine to a liquor license suspension.

County Liquors and Lundeen’s Discount Liquor also were previously cited in June for serving alcohol to minors, according to an older news release.

Businesses found in compliance were 7-Eleven, 404 W. State St.; Arya Tobacco & Liquor, 310 E. State St. No. 9;
Casey’s General Store, 105 Plank Road; Circle K, 2001 DeKalb Ave.; Cub & Spank’s, 113 N. Maple St.; Depot Liquor’s, 524 N. Main St.; HyVee Grocery Store, 2700 DeKalb Ave.; Laxmi Oil,
441 W. High St.; Osco Drug Store,
220 W. Peace Road; Premier Petro BP, 1615 DeKalb Ave.; Riverside Marathon, 503 N. Main St.; Walgreen’s, 1340 DeKalb Ave.; and Western Trail Outpost, 439 E. State St.

The release said police strive to provide health and safety for the community’s youth, and that compliance checks will continue in the future.
