DeKALB – Every Northern Illinois football player at a news conference Tuesday agreed – the Bronze Stalk trophy is deeply meaningful, and the Huskies want to do everything in their power to keep it in DeKalb for the 10th straight year.
“It’s Stalk Week,” linebacker Antonio Jones-Davis said. “Everybody says it’s an ugly trophy, but we want to keep it here in DeKalb. We’re going to do whatever we’ve got to do to keep it here in DeKalb, here with us.”
The Bronze Stalk is awarded annually to the winner of the NIU-Ball State game. First awarded in 2008, the Cardinals won the first one, while the Huskies have won the past nine.
