High-flying kite competition at the DeKalb library

DeKALB – Inspired by DeKalb’s Kite Fest? The DeKalb Public Library will offer a program from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday where kids can design and build their own kite.

There will be a brief discussion about what makes a good kite, then attendees will design and build their kites. There will be fans set up to see how aerodynamic the kites are.

This free program is part of Mighty Makers, the library's making club for kindergarten through fifth-grade students. They meet monthly to do a STEM challenge. Materials for this event were provided through a grant by the Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club.

Space is limited to 20 participants. Registration will begin one hour before the start of the program at the Youth Services Desk.
