SYCAMORE – A Somonauk man accused of stealing his grandmother’s purse from her house and trying multiple ways to steal her money is free on bail.

Police say in court records that Chad T. Kedzierski, 39, of the 400 block of East Dale Street, entered his grandmother’s house down the block about 3 p.m. July 5, took her purse and then tried to cash a check he wrote to himself but was denied at Heartland Bank, 200 E. Church St. in Sandwich. The records show he then went to an ATM at another bank and used her debit card to withdraw $400.

Kedzeriski has been charged with forgery and residential burglary. If convicted of the more serious charge, residential burglary, he could face four to 15 years in prison.

Kezerski was arrested Friday, and his bond was set at $30,000 during a hearing Saturday morning. He posted $1,000 in cash and $2,000 with a credit card, officials said. He is due back in court on Sept. 12.
