To the Editor:
Allen Murphy of Rockford needs to do his homework on Adam Kinzinger’s voting record!
Kinzinger’s record indicates that he opposes taxing small businesses, but he also opposes taxing the wealthy. Murphy claims that Kinzinger supports lower taxes, but according to his voting record, Kinzinger supports taxing the middle class 92 percent of the time ( politicsthatwork.com).
The wealthy are the ones getting a tax break, Mr. Murphy! Kinzinger opposes funding education, environmental protection, financial sector regulation, gun control, humane immigration policy, labor rights and wages, poverty amelioration, racial equality, increasing revenues, countering Russian interference, a robust safety net and women’s rights.
In regard to Sara Dady’s ideas, it would behoove Mr. Murphy to attend a forum or meet-and-greet with Dady. It is difficult to know what a candidate stands for if you fail to familiarize yourself with their views.
After attending numerous public events where Dady has spoken, I can assure Mr. Murphy that her positions on taxes, utility bills, small-business regulations and health care are nothing like what he claims. His assertions do nothing but prey on people’s fears!
Dady supports raising the minimum wage to $15; strengthening workers’ rights; providing affordable, quality child care for working families; making college more affordable; expanding career training; and investing in our infrastructure. She believes that everyone deserves quality health care. She is committed to prioritizing manufacturing, family farming and small-business jobs.
Kinzinger does not represent the hardworking people of the 16th Congressional District. Because of his refusal to hold town halls, we have no way to voice our concerns or ask questions. We desperately need a change in this district! Dady will be a representative who is invested in the success of EVERY resident in our district!
