KVAL meeting features art from written word

Members of the Kishwaukee Valley Art League have been challenged to create a special art piece “Inspired by the Written Word” for the Sept. 6 monthly meeting to be held at the Hy-Vee Club Room at
7 p.m. Inspiration for the art challenge can be from a poem, song, novel, essay or any other written composition.

The public is invited to attend the meeting to see how individual artists will interpret a written piece and transfer their idea onto canvas, wood, fabric, photograph, glass or other medium. The creativity and original artwork is always entertaining and interesting to see when art league members are given such challenges.

Also coming up, Sept. 22, is KVAL’s first “Affordable Art Sale.” This special event will provide artists the opportunity to clean out their studios and offer original art pieces for sale priced between $5 and $95. The sale will be held at Hillcrest Covenant Church in DeKalb from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

KVAL meetings are held at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of the month in the Club Room at Hy-Vee, 2700 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore.

KVAL is committed to promoting local artists and dedicated to the development of upcoming artists in the Kishwaukee Valley area. Visit www.kval-nfp.org for information.
