SYCAMORE – If last year taught Sycamore coach Joe Ryan one thing, it’s how important flexibility along the offensive line is.
As fall practices opened Monday, Ryan said working on the line as part of an overall plan to improve the running game is one of the main things the Spartans are working on leading into their Aug. 24 opener at home against Burlington Central.
“This is Year 31 in high school football for me, but you’ve always got to learn,” Ryan said. “And we learned you have to be able to play a few more multiple positions. We had always had, ‘You’re a guard, you’re a tackle.’ We want our guys to be a little more multiple upfront. So when or if those things happen, we’re a little more prepared for it.”
