Police: Lee woman injures two deputies during arrest

CLARE – Police said a Lee woman pulled over Sunday morning and charged with driving under the influence injured two deputies during her arrest.

In addition to two counts of aggravated battery and a count of resisting a police officer, Samantha M. Crespo, 27, of the 200 block of East Kirke Gate,
is charged with speeding, improper lane use, no
proof of insurance, illegal use of an electronic communication device, driving on the shoulder and DUI, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

The release says a deputy saw her speeding and driving erratically about 2:10 a.m. on Route 64 east of Schafer Road. It says she drove onto the shoulder, lost control and skidded across Route 64 before ending up facing the wrong direction.

The deputy said she smelled of alcohol, was disoriented and failed field sobriety tests, and that she resisted arrest and injured two deputies.
