As part of the benefits of being a Fox Valley Older Adult Services Annual Community Business Participant, Andrea Carter of Northern Rehab presented an informative program on the importance of exercise.
Exercise is important in daily function especially to the aging generation in order to help prevent chronic disease, lower the chances of injury and falls, improve moods and more. Many medical conditions can be improved through gentle physical exercise, including Alzheimer’s disease, other forms of dementia, heart disease, diabetes, constipation, high blood pressure and obesity.
Carter discussed how regular exercise helps maintain the ability to live independently which is the main goal of FVOAS. She demonstrated a variety of simple, gentle exercises that can be done independently at home.
