Mental health first aid training available Friday

DeKALB – The Ben Gordon Center, in partnership with the DeKalb County Community Mental Health Board, will be holding a mental health first aid training session on Friday in the Five Seasons Room of the DeKalb County Community Outreach Building, 2500 N. Annie Glidden Road.

The eight-hour course will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will teach residents how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Training will provide the skills needed to reach out and provide initial support for someone experiencing a crisis or developing a mental health or substance abuse problem.

A second course will be offered Sept. 28 for those unable to attend Friday's program.

For more information or to register for the course, contact Barb Stagner at 815-756-4875, extension 201 or at Barbara.Stagner@nm.org.
