Kishwaukee United Way is looking for volunteers to help with projects during its Day of Caring on June 14 throughout DeKalb County.

"This is a great opportunity for you, your friends, family, church, business, school or civic organization to make a difference in the community," Dawn Littlefield, director of Kishwaukee United Way, said in a news release. "[It's] more than just a community service project. It is truly a win/win opportunity for all."

Volunteers will help on projects for local nonprofit and human service agencies that need extra hands-on help. Projects run the gamut, from gardening to baking to delivering Meals on Wheels.

All the work is done between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 14. A kickoff rally and check-in starts at 8:15 a.m. in the Hopkins Park Garden Level Room at 1403 Sycamore Road in DeKalb. To sign up, or get more information, contact Kishwaukee United Way at 815-756-7522 or info@kishwaukeeunitedway.com.

Can't make it June 14, or want to do even more? The United Way is teaming up with Kishwaukee Family YMCA and Heartland Blood Center for a blood drive from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 27 at the Y, 2500 W. Bethany Road, Sycamore, where the Heartland Mobile Coach will be parked. To set an appointment, visit heartlandbc.org or call 800-786-4483.
