Children’s Community Theatre Penguin Project has selected “Mary Poppins Jr.” for its fall 2018 production.
The Penguin Project will host a kickoff informational meeting for all continuing and new Penguins and their parents on Sunday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 317 N. Fourth St., DeKalb.
The Penguin Project is especially encouraging new high school aged mentors and new younger artists to come and learn about the Penguin Project. In fact, anyone interested in joining the CCT Penguin Project including new artists (individuals 10 to 22 with disabilities), new mentors, and continuing Penguins, should attend this important informational meeting with their parent(s).
Penguin Project is a theater program that allows children and young adults (between the ages of 10 and 22) with disabilities to experience the thrill of participating in live musical theater.
It pairs those actors with mentors of similar age, and together they rehearse for four months to bring their characters and the show to life. Along the way, great friendships are born and many lessons are learned.
This meeting will be an opportunity to not only meet the artists and mentors, but also to speak with their families, to learn how the program works and to hear what it has done for participants. The general schedule of practices will be discussed as well as all of the opportunities to help make the show a success.
For information about the informational meeting, email CCTPenguinProject@gmail.com or find them on Facebook @CCTPenguinProject.
