Letter: Pro tip to parents – Create your own cuss words

To the Editor:

Got kids?

Do you remember how you cussed, screamed and swore when you dropped that cup of hot coffee in your lap? Or all of the four-letter words and other bad things you said when you broke than fancy wine glass Grandpa left you?

It’s called blowing off steam.

But the worst part was when you realized your son, or daughter, heard you using all those naughty words you told them to never use.

Here’s something you might want to try: Make up your own cuss words that no one would recognize. How does that work? How about shmuckety-ruck, or schekadawuz? Here’s a favorite: rickerty-rackerty ruck.

Of course, we’ve all heard, “Oh yuck, what in the blue blazes is going on?”

How about “Shoot the works!” Make up your own trashy words, and little Betty or Bobby won’t embarrass you when they blow off steam.

If you are familiar with another language, and want to use some of those cuss words, be careful. There might be strangers within listening distance who might know what you’re saying. Try to remember your new cuss words and tell the kids not to swear (of course, you know they will, if angry enough).

So if they use your new naughty words, who cares?
