DeKALB – Seasonal collection of landscape waste during regularly scheduled trash pickup days will resume April 1.
The DeKalb Public Works Department is reminding residents to place yard waste in approved biodegradable landscape waste bags or garbage cans no larger than 32 gallons. Waste Management will not pick up anything in plastic bags or boxes.
Residents should also cut brush to 4-foot lengths and tie them with string or baler’s twine in bundles not to exceed 50 pounds.
Landscape waste drop-off containers also are in place at the DeKalb Fire Station 2 at 1154 S. Seventh St., at city garden plots west of Fire Station 3 at 950 W. Dresser Road and on the southeast corner of North Seventh and Oak streets.
These containers are only for DeKalb residents. Landscape waste should be put in approved waste bags, which are not made of plastic and placed in the containers.
The city of DeKalb will prosecute those who dump any nonlandscape items, dump any refuse including landscape waste on the ground or dumping by professional landscape contractors.
