Dunlap residents still in critical condition after Saturday crash

DeKALB – Two Dunlap residents remain in critical condition in a Rockford hospital after a two-vehicle crash Saturday night at the intersection of Route 23 and Perry Road in DeKalb,.

Duc H. Nguyen and Kieu My Thi Nguyen, both 57 and of the 10900 block of Waterton Drive, were traveling east in a 2004 Mercedes Benz SUV about 4:25 p.m. when the vehicle failed to yield to a southbound 2012 Ford 250 pickup driven by Nicole M. Henke, 44, of the 9900 block of Leland Road in Waterman, according to a release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

The truck hit the SUV on the driver's side, and the Nguyens were taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital before being flown to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, where they were still in critical condition Tuesday, according to hospital staff.

Henke did not need to go to the hospital, and all three people were wearing their seat belts, according to the release.
