Northern Illinois University’s award-winning Avalon String Quartet is performing at Lakeside Arts Park at the Dole in Crystal Lake at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The concert is part of the NIU School of Music Showcase and Guest Performance Series, a series of concerts by NIU groups at Lakeside Arts Park.
Tickets for the performance, which will be held in Lakeside Arts Park’s “Listening Room,” are available for $8. Online ticket sales end at noon Friday.
The Avalon is quartet-in-residence at the NIU School of Music, a position formerly held by the Vermeer Quartet.
The Avalon has performed in major venues including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the 92nd St. Y, Merkin Hall and Bargemusic in New York; the Library of Congress and National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; Wigmore Hall in London; and Herculessaal in Munich.
The group’s members are Blaise Magniere and Marie Wang on violin, Anthony Devroye on viola and Cheng-Hou Lee on cello.
The Avalon also will perform in the Recital Hall in the NIU Music Building in DeKalb at 8 p.m. April 26.
Lakeside Arts Park at the Dole is located at 401 Country Club Road in Crystal Lake.
