By the numbers: Nate Nesler scored 13 for the Cogs and Griffin Hansen added eight. Michael Trzynka had six points and a team-best seven rebounds. Nesler scored the first six points for the Cogs. Brock Guse added 11 for the Crusaders, and Kevin Rice had a game-best 11 rebounds for the Crusaders. Caleb Ziehr added eight boards.
Beyond the stats: Jenkins said 13 teams on the Cogs’ schedule are playing in regional championship games.
They said it: “We talked about we got to get better, and it has to happen during the summer,” Jenkins said.
“I think the guys want to do that. We have good kids in that locker room. I really truly believe they want to get better and try to win next year.”
Up next: Rockford Boylan and Rockford Lutheran play at 7 p.m. Friday for the regional title, with the winner advancing to the Woodstock North sectional to play at 7 p.m. Wednesday against the St. Francis regional champion.
