MALTA – A Rochelle woman is in good condition at a Rockford hospital after a three-vehicle crash Tuesday at the intersection of Route 38 and Malta Road.
Alice R. Sanders, 47, of the 700 block of Lincoln Highway, was in a 2012 Ford hatchback about 4:15 p.m. on Route 38 when a 2013 Ford Focus driven by Jon Henley, 34, of the 500 block of North Eighth Street in Rochelle, rear-ended her vehicle and pushed it into the 2017 Ford SUV driven by Oliver C. Penney, 38, of the 9100 block of Leicester Way in Roscoe, in front of her, according to a release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
The release said Sanders was extricated from her vehicle, brought to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital and then flown to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. The release called her injuries “serious,” but staff at OSF Saint Anthony said Wednesday evening that she’s in good condition.
Penney and Henley declined treatment, and all three drivers were wearing their seat belts, the release said. Henley was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
