The Genoa-Kingston Community Food Pantry has partnered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
The partnership has been a goal for the G-K food pantry for several years. It will allow the pantry to maximize the purchasing power of every donated dollar in acquiring quality food to share with those facing challenging circumstances.
The Genoa-Kingston Community Food Pantry has been serving the Genoa-Kingston community for 38 years. It is a cooperative ministry of the area churches and is housed at Faith United Methodist Church of Genoa, 325 S. Stott St.
This partnership allows the G-K food pantry to continue providing food and other resources to the community, including monthly food distributions, emergency financial support, Thanksgiving Baskets and Christmas gifts for children. The pantry provides food and services to 40 to 100 families in the area. It is sustained by church and community donations along with being supported by Genoa-Kingston United Way.
Volunteers are welcome to help unload food deliveries the first Thursday of the month at 8:30 a.m. The food pantry is open on the third Monday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. Food pantry volunteers are welcome as well.
