MALTA – Snowy roads were believed to have caused a two-car crash Wednesday morning in Malta that hospitalized one driver, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
About 7 a.m., 23-year-old Stephen Avila of
Waterman lost control of his vehicle in the intersection of Rich and Schafer roads and struck a 2013 Honda Civic driven by 24-year-old Kelsie Cavanaugh of Dixon, the release said.
Sheriff’s deputies and Malta fire responded to the incident and took Avila to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital with minor injuries. Avila was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
