Letter: Contraception needed for all parties involved

To the Editor:

We should be very concerned about our overpopulation problems. Where are we going put all of the garbage we are making? We already are in the midst of a “climate change” because of what comes out of our chimneys and the tailpipes from our cars. Tornadoes, drought in one state, flooding in another.

When will common sense take over? The problems of overpopulation already are being felt. We must teach our children the importance of birth control and the importance of “both switches turned off.”

What does that mean?

You have had “the talk” with your daughter, and then put her on the pill, but the pill is effective only 95 percent to 98 percent of the time. To be sure “both switches are turned off, her boyfriend must be using a condom.”

When you have your “talk” with your teenage son, be sure he knows how and why he must use condoms. They not only prevent venereal diseases, they also help prevent pregnancies. None of us have anything to say about who our parents are. We have no control over our color or gender.

Overpopulation already is causing big problems in India and China. That is why both parties must use birth control devices to keep “both switches turned off.”
