DeKALB – The DeKalb Public Library will kick off the holiday season with a showing of “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Guests can relive the magic when Rudolph visits the Island of Misfit Toys, and Santa asks Rudolph to guide his sleigh on Christmas Eve. Family approved for all ages, this classic movie, first seen on television in 1964, runs for 52 minutes.
The library will show two more movies near the end of December. At 2 p.m. Dec. 29, visitors are invited to watch “Frosty the Snowman.” When Frosty comes to life, he must weather a storm of adventures and the plans of a wicked magician before he can find safety and happiness at the North Pole. This classic movie for all ages, first seen on television in 1969, runs for 25 minutes.
At 2 p.m. Dec. 30, “Captain Underpants” will be shown. Two overly imaginative fourth-grade pranksters named George and Harold accidentally hypnotize their principal into thinking he’s a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants. When a new teacher turns out to be a disgraced scientist bent on ridding the world of laughter, George, Harold and Captain Underpants band together to save the day. This PG-rated movie runs for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
All movies are free and open to all. They will be shown in the Story & Activity Room on the second level of the library at 309 Oak St.
