DeKALB – Police are trying to find a 23-year-old convicted sex offender who ran away when officers tried to arrest him Tuesday at a residence in the 800 block of Ridge Drive, where he’s not registered to live.

Christian M. Elliott, formerly of the 300 block of South Sixth Street in Malta, was able to elude officers who spotted him Tuesday and fled to the northeast, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

He posted $2,500 bail to be released Nov. 7 from the DeKalb County Jail on a failure to register as a sex offender charge, and according to the release, he is wanted on two warrants.

Elliott pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sex abuse in November 2015 and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. According to the Illinois State Police sex offender database, he was 20 at the time of the crime, and the victim was between 13 and 17 years old.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DeKalb County Crime Stoppers at 815-895-3272 or crimestoppers@dekalbcounty.org. Callers can remain anonymous.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and filing of criminal charges against those involved.
