DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott echoed Hicks’ sentiments, adding that the county only responded to a handful of wind-related emergency calls, most of them involving downed cable lines, and that no injuries were reported.
Sycamore Deputy Fire Chief Todd Turner cautioned community members to be mindful when walking near power lines and trees during days when wind gusts are strong.
“We’ve had some cases where power lines have come down on people. Luckily, none have happened recently,” Turner said. “You need to have situational awareness when conditions are out of the ordinary.”
